Hey folks
I thought I’d come on here before my next weigh-in (on Monday) to share some HUGE news!
Last night, whilst doing week 8 run 1 of the Couch to 5K program, I ran 5 whole, complete, entire kilometres! I can’t tell you how shocked I was. You see, I was meant to run for 28 minutes but I thought I’d keep going until I hit the 5K mark and whilst it may have taken 45 minutes, the main thing is that I kept going! I pushed my boundaries. I discovered that I’m capable of pushing myself in the pursuit of becoming healthy.
With 5 more runs to complete until I finish Couch to 5K, my hope is to cover 5K is less time. So, I hope this inspires anyone thinking that running is only for slim, fit people. I’m still just into the morbidly obese range and I never thought I’d accomplish this…but I did!
Once I finish the remaining runs, I’m going to do a blog post about the overall experience and my top tips but I just wanted to share this euphoric moment as we go into the weekend. I’m just a little bit happy!!!!!!!!!
See you on the other side of the weekend. My weight has stalled for the past few days and I don’t know whether my BMI will finally be sub 40 but I don’t mind. I’ll get there
Have a great weekend everyone
Love Erika xx
Well done. You’re awesome, and an inspiration to me

Aw, thank you! My weight didn’t go on overnight and it’s going to take time for it to come off but lots of short-term goals on the way are keeping me focused 😊

Wow, well done! My running blog is “Fat Guy Running”, so I definitely know it’s not all tiny people doing the running (they’re just all I see out there HAHA)…
This is great! I hope you’re not (too) sore. Enjoy this moment and recall it when things are discouraging. This is a win you can look back on for motivation.

Well done you! I have to admit that I’ve already sent off my evidence to claim a medal which I’ll share on here when it arrives! Yes, this is such an extraordinary moment and I’ve been buzzing all day. I actually wasn’t that tired afterwards so I’ll aim for another 5K tomorrow and just push the pace a little bit without overdoing it. Perhaps I can do it in less than 42 minutes this time?! Tiny steps 😊

I have a handful of medals from a few runs I’ve done, but the only one that really means much to me is the half I did last September. I friggin’ worked to get through that run, and I think training for that is what contributed to killing my motivation for nearly a year. (I’m not planning to ever run that far again).
I’m stoked for you… that’s not an insignificant jump; and I hope the high from doing that run serves as great motivation… Do be careful with running sequential days, at least at first. You know you better than I do, of course; so if you’re good, go for it. But injuries are sometimes insidious and can creep up on you.
And I know you can get it in fewer than 42 minutes. You rock.

That’s brilliant! It doesn’t matter how long you took, next time you’ll do better and better till you’re completing the run in 25 minutes! Good on you for being awesome!

Thank you so much 😊 My initial thought was “there is no way I would ever run 5K in 25 minutes” but, just a few weeks ago, I thought there was no way I would ever be able to run 5K! Everything is possible!! XX
